Regarding Explaining the Online Community Discussion “Second Lieutenants with Monthly Salary $49,000, After Repaying the Years of Service for Military School Only Left with $770,”Ministry of National Defense said today (9th) and clarified with the explanation as follow:

I. According to Article 29 of “Act of Military Service for Officers and Noncommissioned Officers of the Armed Forces,” since the implementation of the new system of civil service pension(“social insurance annuity” after 1 January 1997), during the studying period of the officer corps and noncommissioned officers on the active duty in military school, they shall submit the civil service pension repayment application within three months from the revisions and implementation of the Act, and make one repayment regarding the civil service pension before consolidation with the years of service.

II. The above repayment for the civil service pension concerning the years of service in military school shall be applied by the officer corps and noncommissioned officers for payment according to their “willingness.” Based on the stance of servicing the officers and soldiers on active duty, the Ministry began accepting the application from August this year (2018), and accept payment from salary since November. People who do not pay from salary may make payment at the financial units in all regions. The accountant bureau of the Ministry also negotiated with the public sector (banks) for the fellow with capital requirements to provide a low interest loans at an annual rate of 1.67% for a term of 1 to 7 years for the fellow to apply. Relevant information has been illustrated to the officers and soldiers through opportunities of National Army website, tour panels, and TV education on Chu-Kuang Day.
